Do Revenge

I recently watched the new Netflix movie Do Reverve, which is a film I found very interesting costume wise. The whole theme and aesthetic had very 90s movies vibes which really helps for the plot twist at the end as it really has you feeling like it's going to be a fun movie with a “good” clear ending but it’s much more. Something i absolutely loved was the makeover scene Camilla Mendes’ character Drea did on Maya Hawkes' character Elaenor, it had the early 2000s/late 90’s vibe with the cinematography but the clothes don’t exactly fit into any clear time category. This scene really showcases Elaenor’s “change” into becoming one of the popular kids to help Drea with her revenge. The use of Drea saying “narcissists don't realise they’re being played” is so wonderful when it comes to the foreshadowing throughout the movie.
The thing that stood out to me the most was the costuming, the designers used a lot of items from small independent businesses with items such as hair clips which is wonderful but my favourite outfit, Elaenor's zipped dress shows her true character, now that shes revealed her true motives and how she's carefully put together a plan while also a bit crazy and free- just like her zipper top.
